Welcome to the National/Homeland Security
Web Page
for the Department of Georgia.

The purpose of the National/Homeland Security Committee and its attendant web page is to provide you a source of information concerning these vital areas of American interests and values. During the fall and spring Conferences the chairman and vice chairman introduce topics and make presentations concerning issues of the day. American Legion resolutions past, ongoing and potential future are discussed. These resolutions confirm the united status of veteran members concerning issues/resolutions that were brought before the national convention and approved. Yes, we have positions on many issues concerning our security.

Meanwhile, Veteran’s can self education, research, and become more aware, more adept, more experienced and frankly even more useful to the national effort to defend, protect, and in the event of disaster, revive our homeland. The following web sites are a beginning source of classes and schools that offer free education in this area. Good hunting and education. I look forward to any and all challenges to what we are doing and how to improve based on what you find. Let me know and let’s keep pushing.

Larry Hoff, Chairman

“In the last two or three years I have gone to several federal and state websites for training topics on WMD and preparedness topics, which have all been free and offer a completion certificate often after a short exam.

I have retained one web-shortcut on my screen for a couple of years now that is a cumulative web-discussion listing of a substantial number of WMD and emergency management coursework that is available.  I would recommend you review the several pages of listings and look them up...you then tend to surf around and find others ones too...

One of my favorites was also at the Texas A&M site, they had several terrorist-related courses I com pleted, and recently added a series of Cyber-related courses I am still working through.  Of course I tend to favor the Aggies, my wife and I spent several courses up at College Station where I personally paid for their series of advanced traffic crash reconstruction courses leading to my national accreditation as a recon specialist...

And let us not forget one you have probably already been too, DOCNET courses and podcasts provide instructional multimedia presentations of key joint doctrine concepts across the broad range of military operations.  I have completed a few of these military courses, they tend to run longer but offer more comprehensive info...I was surprised that the American Public University System (APUS) grants one college credit hour for successful completion of each DOCNET course.
