POST CERTIFICATION
See the enclosed list of Posts that have NOT, repeat NOT certified their
Post Officers for 2010-2011. Department Officers and District Officers we
need your help. Please have someone contact each Post listed and obtain the
status of their Post certification as this information must be reported to
National prior to August 1, 2010.
DEPARTMENT SCHOLARSHIPS:
Six (6) -- $1,000.00 each
This year, six outstanding Georgia students have each been awarded a
$1,000.00 scholarship. The 2010 scholarship winners:

The scholarships are awarded annually to students who excel in areas of
grade-point average, SAT scores, academic standing and scholastic honors. A
total of 14 applications were submitted.
Membership
The
Legion strongly believes that a Veteran is a Veteran, no matter the war era,
nature or location of service. In that light, The American Legion is the
only organization that works on behalf of all twenty-four and half (24.5)

FALL CONFERENCE:
Duluth, GA
October 23 - 24, 2010
Enclosed is the housing information for the Fall Conference. Please pass
this information to the Legionnaires, Auxiliary, and SAL members of your
Post and encourage them to make their reservations early.
We are having the Youth Champions Banquet on Saturday Night at the
Conference, cost $35.00 each.
Make plans to attend and support our Youth Champions.
COMMANDER’S, PRESIDENT’S AND SAL COMMANDER’S SPECIAL PROJECT
GOAL
$100,000.00
The Legionnaires, Auxiliary, and SAL members donated more than $75,000.00 in
2009-2010. Sixty-five thousand dollars ($65,000.00) was donated to the ten
(10) medical facilities that care for our Georgia Veterans at the Department
Convention. Also, $15,000.00 was donated to the VA Hospital in
